I think I actually prefer the more limited mix!... In the other mix, the dynamics sound a little uncontrolled and uneven - a bit "lumpy".
Tone wise it sounds pretty good, although I find the reverb on the vocal a little too "bathroom" sounding, creating a buildup in the high mids. Maybe try pulling some of the high mids out of the reverb.
