North To Alaska: 'All The Same'
#12
Hi Dave ,
Version 3 sounds much better.
I'm listening on the ns10m which were the latest version the ones with lay sideways the modified crossover and tweeter instead of using upright version which some engineers used tissue paper to tame the high end.
They actually sound Awesome to me with punchy fast transient response and pretty revealing through my home built mosfet amp especially with the krk sub to fill up the bottom end,my older auratones sound quite similar with less bottom end.
I usually use the rocket 6 to listen to a lot of reference material and mix on ,as have a smoother frequency response across the spectrum and accurate stereo image ,even though a couple of my sound engineer friends listened to my setup and have said the krk sound boring like they have a sheet thrown over them compared to the clarity of yamaha's ,I think it's a matter of training your ears on whatever monitors you have and more accurate monitors tuned with the room the better and the mastering engineer hopefully can do the fine tuning.
Cheers Big Grin
