I´ve just changed my headphones and the mix sounded the same. Hmmm. Then I changed the cable - boom. looks like the cable was broken and now most of the things I wrote are useless now, hahahaha!
Anyway, you are right - the mix sounds distorted. panning and volumes are okay, but the distortion was kinda annoying. What your mix really lacks is movement, excitement and punch. It's not always about the right levels and eq. Example: I didn't like every decision this guy did but his mix is really powerful. go check it out:
