What I mean is that the temptation to add something suggests to me that you're looking for more power, impact, and general splendidness... and in practice it's easier, more practical, and more effective to sacrifice a bit of mojo here and there, especially early in the song... so when everything comes together for the big BANG, all of the best bits are fresh and haven't been banging away for so long that they've blended in with everything else.

I don't mean to suggest that any of your creative ideas aren't excellent... just that you should keep in mind that every additional track is going to require some sacrifice somewhere else and remember the principle we use with EQ: "Try cutting before you boost."
