IMHO. I think you are putting the electric piano too high and bright and this makes you raise the voice and other instruments much more higher.
I would try to keep the piano sound in the warm region (100, 200, 300Hz). It would help clear the voice without any harsh (only a little deessing in the highs).

Thanks for the comment, man. Yeah, you're right. I struggle with the low mid of the piano, the tail end lingers too long getting in the way of the sub and other synths while I want it to anchor the part. Tried a couple things unsuccessfully like gating (failed), longer release (not really), so I resorted to super aggressive HP (what you heard). I didn't realized the move forced a fight w/ vocal, etc like you mentioned but did notice the vox became a bit harsher. I barked up the wrong tree and thought it was the clap that interfered, which share some of the vox freq spectrum. Perhaps I had it a bit too loud. I'll work on it more and see.
