Hi Phil. A few thoughts on first listen. Is your kick a triggered sample; It seems sub heavy and really bombastic?
there are lots of good tonal elements , but I feel these get lost among other issues. I think a good starting place that will enable those good elements to shine, would be to sort the foundation of the mix; the drums and bass. I try to pick three elements of the mix that I want to shine, then work the rest around that . Eg. always the vocal, then the three. My final thought was your vocal sounds like it sits in a complete different room to the rest of the mix which made the mix sound like 2 separate mixes. Hope this is helpful. Keep on keeping on

I guess I mixed in too much of that. I agree the strings especially in one point are lost, masked I guess by the rhodes piano mid low tone (which I tried to contain anyway). About the vocals: I was trying to use a different space in order to get more presence, may be too much different, I don't know, I do like it and I do not like at the same time. Anyway, thank you very much for the feedback. |
