Here's my go, really enjoyed the song. I'm not really sure whether or not I like the way I mixed it, but this felt the way to go about it, like Floyd meets 80s hair metal, and a bit of a gentle mid scoop on the master.
Anyhows, looking forward to your comments.
edit 2nd version: slight change in the intro and took out some bite out of the overheads
I's a very good mix, drums sound great, love the toms.
The only thing that i would change is maybe give the guitars a litle bit more mids and bring them down a notch, and turn up the highs on the bass guitar.
That's a good mix. Biscuit is right, the drums are gorgeous Maybe a little bit too much of reverb.
I find the overheads a bit too harsh. Maybe you can use a deesser to make them a bit smoother.
And to me there is too much reverb in the chorus guitar in the intro. I would prefer it to be more in the front.
Thanks for listening and the comments guys! Much appreciated. I had band practice tonight and had a listen in the car. I do agree on the harshness of the overheads, but the ride sounds pretty sweet, so think a bit of EQ automation is needed.
As on the intro, I get what you're saying, but might try something different. No more time today, so this one's going on the to-do list
