To me the acoustic guitar at the start sounds a bit lifeless
and the vox sound a bit comped and dull.
The whole mix is a bit dull sounding to me if im honest.

Wow. The second mix is much better. Full of life and punch. I think your placement of the piano and crunch guitar could bennefit from some high pass to give the percussion and bass more room.
