Automated the eq of the pad to make way for the bass. Kick a little 'boomy', kicking a suitcase? Lots of lows in this one.

I absolutely love the sound design you've got going on here... these tracks really benefit from it. The way you've incorporated the noises and effects is really impressive, too... there's a great rhythmic element introduced with those glitches that I struggled with personally. It's hard to be sure about the automated EQ on the pad, but I don't hear any automation and I'm also not hearing any significant interference/masking with the bass.... so I'd say you slam dunked it Smile

I'm curious how you achieved the distortion on the bass and that swelling synth from the intro. There's digital distortion on the raw tracks and it was everything I could do to bring out the mids without pushing the digital distortion to audible levels... you've got a pretty smooth sound here.

Great job, looking forward to hearing more.

Smooth indeed, pauli! Excellent job, Mixologist. I heard it as a song, and not a mix. Just sitting here, jamming along.

Bravo

Hi, that's so kind of you both, have put a fair amount of time and energy into this song!

The bass was split into two, one dealt with the subb-y deep stuff, and the other was mid-range frequencies and upwards. This is the one that I distorted - i'm sure there was a bit of Sausage Fattener on the swelling synth and the higher frequency bass tracks. I feel a bit ashamed of using that plug-in, but it does do really good things to certain sounds.

All the best, really enjoying this amazing resource of a website.

ABSOLUTELY! Undecided

I like the feel of the mix, but it is too smooth in that of it being very bass and low mid heavy and lacking contrast and clarity. Yes, strong transients would have gone aginst the "smoothness" of the style, but it would of helped drive the mix forward and balnce the lows and low mids with some high end content.

Interesting mix though, I like how the low mids somewhat pulse.

interesting take on it. I thought the bass was a little too much but I like the verb on the plucking.
