Blue Mix - theisraelthomas - 03-12-2014

Hello,

My name is Israel, I am currently a student at MTSU and I am doing this mix as a project for class. Let me know what you think!!

Hey Israel!
Not a bad attempt. I quite like the bgvs tucked in the distance like you did. Drums are fine although perhaps a tad too loud.
I think however there is a problem with the low-mids. I would guess the main culprit is the bass.
It is very boomy, lacks definition and is rumbling/having bad resonances that cover a lot of the territory, masking everything in a bad way.
The lead vocal is a bit too dry as well IMHO, but that's perhaps a taste thing.
I'd say work on frequency balance first, did you use some referencing? You could probably use some of the best mixes here and load that in your DAW and see how your mix compares.
