The Winds of Gypsy Moor - Shul - 16-03-2024

I think everything is a challenge in this mix. Getting the energy to keep it going is hard in my opinion. Not sure what else to look for but so far this is what I got.
It's not a genre I listen to a lot but I really loved the song is really cool. This song would make a great music video let me tell you! Smile

I like the balance of drums with toms cutting through; I would like to hear them more in a short room, to just set them a little clearer in the mix. I hear you want the bass to be one of your main elements; As it is louder in the mix I feel it has made the mix a bit sub heavy thus making the mix sound a bit cloudy . I like where the vocal sits but feel it needs some low mid cut not to much thou. I like the tone of your lead solo guitar. is there some effect on main vocal ; sounding like a bit of phase thing in verse going on?
over all I am liking where your mix is going, yes preview mix sounds awesome, just got tracks down loaded ; looking forward to this one.
hope this helps , l am listening on mid range buds .

Thanks for feedback!! I played it in the car and I agree the bass is very prominent. I'm mixing on headphones so I don't hear that sub energy as well. I will update with a lower bass track.

Just started mixing this, lots of challenges, drums one of them ,just at the studio listened to take 2 , sounds better low end, could push 100 hz on kick to add a little more thump, personal taste .
great solo guitar sound ;could clean up verb low mids at that point and add more pre delay and cut delay time a little to bring more up front. nice overall tone to mix and balance going.
like balance between main vocal and you harmony. nice one.

Hey Shul,

Very good work - as usual -. There are still a few small points to nitpick -still...-: generally speaking, the voice+chorus sound a bit "upfront". Matter of choice.
The "pseudo metal" passage from 2'39'' unbalances the rhythm: the toms are a little swallowed up.
But in general the mix lacks a little bit of "air" and shine. These are small details.

Very good job.
