My take on Freedom - hobbyist - 23-10-2022

Hi guys!

I haven't done a mix in so long.
I hope you enjoy it.

As always, any comment or sugestion or criticism is welcome.

Cheers!

Hey man,

Lovely mix and I really like the vocal processing at the beginning of the song.
Just as a personal preference, I would like more of the bass to be heard.
For me, the kick is a bit louder than the bass. Don't take this as a critique, is just me Smile

It sounds just fine!

Thanks

Hi!
From your photo I assume you are a bass player and therefore want to hear more of the bass...
I'm kidding!
Thank you very much for taking the time to listen and comment on my mix.
The effect on the voice is just a "telephone effect" (high and low pass filters)
Regarding the bass, maybe are my cheap headphones but I hear a lot of bass.
What you mean? More low/lows, lows, mid/lows, note, "clang, clang, clang"?

Hey hobbyist!
Yes, mainly, I'm a bass player.
You're right, maybe I was not very clear in my writing. I can hear the bass, but it's so low, that notes are not so obvious.
I think some of the mid/lows needs to be heard...

Cheers

Try this. Duplicate the track. High pass at about 110hz. Add some distortion or saturation and blend it with the original.

Hi.
Thank you for the tip.
That is sort of what i've done.
Duplicated the track, in the original one high pass at ~60 (to let the kick breath) low pass at ~150 and compression to have consistent low end.
In the new one, high pass at ~150, saturation and light compression
Both tracks to a bus and in the bus rbase at 80, mv2 and some tweaks with eq.
