Definitely outside my comfort zone which is why I chose it. Living in DC now, I'm seeing the art that is the hardcore scene. It's so raw that you wonder "what could a mixing engineer doo that's not too much?"
I treated this as I would a polished rock song but left as much grit as possible. The biggest change is that I edited the vocal room mic so that it emphasizes certain parts of the lyric instead of being on the entire time. Toughest challenge was not being able to pull that hi hat to the left or right due to its presence in the snare mic.
