Secretariat's 'Over The Top' - Cefe's Mix - Cefe - 23-02-2014

Here is my attempt at this one. I wanted to reflect the image of the band playing live. I think maybe the drums are too thin tho?

Thanks for listening
Cheers

cafe, first thing I would say is the drums sound a bit over compressed for the song to me. However, they do tend to grow on me as I listen. The organ is doing some interesting (not in a good way IMO) things that actually reminds me of some of the wacky Eventide H3000 effects. Just keep working at it; I've heard way worse mixes before (some of them mine).

This one is tricky in my opinion because of limited tracks to work with, especially the drums. If I remember right the snare track is a bit out of phase with the overheads. Because of there being only one mic each on the snare and kick with no room or tom mics the eq on the overheads is crucial on this one. That organ is tough to work with. Did you put an effect on it?
