Sun Drenched SpedeMix - Spede - 22-02-2014

Hi. I did a mix out this one couple of weeks ago. Posting it now. I recall this one coming together very quickly; Once you find the correct reverbs it'll basically mix itself. Since this is a "Movie Score", I've kept it as dynamic as possible to benefit from the resulting impact. Turn it up for maximum enjoyment.

Good sonics. Sounds like you've had better results with the horns than I've had so far. How are you keeping them from sounding so splatty?

I think there's a bit too much master bus compression from a personal taste perspective, but it sounds nice Big Grin

This was one of my first experiments with true stereo reverb. I thought the whole concept was just fad but to my amazement a true stereo reverbs actually sound different from a mono-to-stereo counterparts (I did some null tests). The true stereo reverb seems help when you need to push the reverb extremely loud (like I needed to do here) since the reverb stays comparably cleaner.

I used some scoring stage impulse responses for the horns (and the strings for that matter) and underneath it is a very bright and long (6 sec) Lexicon hall which "carries on" from where the scoring stage impulse ends. So it's a combination of two reverbs: One "real" space and one extremely lush digital reverb.
