Tom McKenzie - Directions–BlackFandango Mix - black-fandango - 18-01-2014

I was surprised by how much I grew to really love this song; hopefully my mix reflects that.

I feel the main acoustic guitars are way too dark here, especially against the vocals. Checking the mix by listening extremely quiet usually reveals balance and tonal issues very well; monitoring quietly the ac guitars in this mix disappear completely. The drums sound nice and natural though.

I'm not sure if keeping the both bass tracks was a good idea (let alone panning them off center). Usually for these kind of songs we want a nice tight bottom end (instead of a bloated one), and think the reason for two bass tracks was simply to have an option for the mix engineer.
