Firstly, I didn't like this mix, at all. I thought the vocals sounded really strange in the upper-mids, and generally a bit flat and lacklustre in general.
Instead of trying to retain the current sound of the mix, I went in a more creative direction - to make it more listenable, to me.
I went quite heavy on tape effect, going OTT with the hiss and tried to create a much softer tonal balance overall. In a nutshell, I tried to make the mix sound like something I could connect with - I don't hate the mix as much now.
