Raspberry Jam (A pretty different take) - FBI Light Rock - 16-05-2020 First and foremost, I really enjoyed this piece. It's a joy trying to nail this one right. I had a few problems, mostly it was because the snare exists in both the Snare and Overhead tracks, so getting them to work with each other was a little challenging. The main focus of this track is mainly the warmth of the bass, and of course the Rhodes itself. I made sure the cymbal splashes can be heard pretty well too. I chose to put the guitar as support so it's much more toned down compared to what i hear in the other mixes here. It's also intentional that the percussion (the kick and snare) are pretty subtle, i really went for the soothing feel of the Rhodes supported by the bass. Admittedly, the snare wasn't as great as what i heard from Roy's mix, where i really loved his fat snare sound popping out. Hope you enjoy this soothing take on the track, and feedback is welcome! |
