Had to listen to several songs like this one.. Hope I did a good job on it.
No automation because I still don't know that in reaper but I don't think this needs automation.. volumes in the recording are pretty solid.

it sounds like everything was recorded with neuman u87 lol

Levels are dialed in nicely! I struggled trying to brighten this mix, ended up using an exciter on a few tracks. Not sure it worked! Just a suggestion, I hope it helps!

A little thick around the middle which is hiding the nuance and detail of the players.

I agree with this, 200hz area is a little hot. Other than that this is an awesome mix here, sounds really good
