Still Flying - MikeMike Mix - MikeMike - 28-03-2018

Hi guys,

this was my very first metal mix, I'd never done one before. I must say I struggled I bit with it, and I found myself using really extreme eq and compression settings, but that appears not to be uncommon in metal, is it?

Other than that, I really think the way vocals were tracked was a complete nonsense: the main part seemed to jump here and there across the twenty tracks, same for the backing parts. I've come to the conclusion that maybe they tracked them randomly as they had the ideas, and didn't care about giving an order of some sort.

Anyway, I'd REALLY love some help with this. I must say I'm fairly happy with the final result, giving this was my first try with metal. Can't wait to hear from some of you!

Mike

hey man, you said you used some extreme eq, i would go back and maybe back off some of the eq, it sounds a little thin. Also look at some samples for the snare and kick

Yeah, you're definitely right. Now that I'm listening to it after a while, with fresh ears, it definitely sounds thin. I'll revise it and post a new version when I can. Thanks anyway Smile
