RE: Kamikase Mix - Mike Senior - 23-08-2012 Another very assured mix here, although in this case your preference for weightiness in the low end feels like it's gone a bit overboard, so that it's overpowering the mix as a whole. I'd take at least three decibels off the bottom two octaves here, personally. You've chosen a variety of appealing reverb/delay effects too, allowing them to be a little audible without just blanding out the mix or distracting from the main message of the song -- the stereo slap on the rimshot; the fizz in the vocal verb; the Taj Mahal grandeur of the cymbal mallet rolls. My only slight niggle is that maybe you've let the pads take a little too much space on the mix. Yes, they're lovely and warm, but they're also bland, and they're just washing over all those lovely instrument (and indeed delay/reverb) details you've balanced so well. Just a thought. Thanks for posting -- a lovely version this. |
