Sambasevam Shanmugam: 'Kaathaadi' - juanjose1967 - 11-07-2013 I wanted to try something different, so I found the perfect song for it ![]() Different sound, different voices and different language. I've been using more reverb in this song than in others I've mixed. Please let me know if it's alright or I've overused it. Enjoy! RE: Sambasevam Shanmugam: 'Kaathaadi' - takka360 - 11-07-2013 Thats more like it well done. Good use of delay and reverb is one of the secrets of mixing,if its used right you can never use too much. You are on the right track with this mix I think the secrets to mixing are 1 phase 2 using delay and reverbs 3 use compession only when needed and undertsand why you need to use it 4 only use highpass when needed RE: Sambasevam Shanmugam: 'Kaathaadi' - thedon - 11-07-2013 Fantastic !!!!!! RE: Sambasevam Shanmugam: 'Kaathaadi' - juanjose1967 - 11-07-2013 Thank you! you give me hope that one day I will be good at this :-) RE: Sambasevam Shanmugam: 'Kaathaadi' - bmullen - 16-09-2013 Great job on this. RE: Sambasevam Shanmugam: 'Kaathaadi' - Voelund - 24-09-2013 That is one very very pleasant mix - great work on verb and spaces. Congrats ! RE: Sambasevam Shanmugam: 'Kaathaadi' - flyrecords - 24-09-2013 love your mix!!!enjoyed listen that!!! maybe i try mix that song. RE: Sambasevam Shanmugam: 'Kaathaadi' - juanjose1967 - 24-09-2013 Thank you, guys!! RE: Sambasevam Shanmugam: 'Kaathaadi' - Spede - 09-11-2013 To me it sounds like this mix has a quite hyped high end (like it was recorded to tape with dolby but played back without). Especially some of the percussion (shaker stuff and ride track) are sizzling quite loud up there. The type of reverb you have for the vocals in this mix would work perfectly in an extremely dense arrangement (a rock song stuffed with guitars) but here you'd got all the room for some longer verb (and even some delay). Usually adding multiple reverbs for different purposes (a short one and a long one) works really well. So no too much reverb but perhaps too short ![]() I feel the spacey atmosphere gets broken somewhat whenever the bone-dry lead strings come in. RE: Sambasevam Shanmugam: 'Kaathaadi' - Olli H - 09-11-2013 I'm glad to hear your great mix. I think your are advancing like a gazelle. |
