Ok, this is my first mix in a looong time. I chose the tune for its musical style and didn't listen to the lyrics until later. Needless to say, the lyrics did not have WAF.
It isn't a super polished mix, but that's all I'm doing because I have to restore domestic peace – and get this damned song out of my head!
– Dropped out the toms because I felt they made the drums messy.
– Added a LePou distortion to the main guitar (not the perfect distortion but proof of concept).
– Compressed the bass and kick to get more presence.
– Rolled off the highs on that vocal.
– Used the Room mic for ambience.
– Some chorus on the Organ
– Dropped the scratch track pretty low – but if I were going further I would bounce it up here and there for emphasis.
– Other than that there is no automation - just a soundboard level mix.
