mERRYgOLD - Motherload - Luc van der Stap - 27-09-2015

Hi Folks,

Sweet song, really enjoyed doing this mix.

Cost me some time to make the most out of this beauty.

Cheers,
Luc

Hi folks, I need some comments on my mix please, while country / blue grass is a style I trying to grow in to.

Thanks and cheers,
Luc

Hi Luc,

Nice balance and cohesive sound.

Yes, getting this mix sounding good certainly takes time due to how it was recorded. This song and group is so good that it deserves a good mix. I am also mostly interested in mixing bluegrass/newgrass at this time. I think a lot of bluegrass bands are stuck in the old "vintage" mono mic mentality and I'd like to bring some life into the sound of some groups in this genre with more creative mic and mix techniques.

A couple things I'd like to hear more of in your mix would be the upright and the guitar solo. I think of that guitar solo as a significant feature and it was kind of blended in the background over to the side during the solo.

Please feel free to check out my mix and compare...
