Another great song. Thanks for the opportunity! Smile

Really like this song and mix, great job. Few things to consider which may or may not be worth considering:

- the bass is a bit too loud for me. Maybe a bit of multiband compression on the high-end might stop it competing with the vocal as well? Could definitely do with dropping down in level during the guitar solo because it almost sounds like two guitars soloing simultaneously!

- the vocal sounds a little honky to me, maybe a little cut between 800-1KHz? Also could be a bit dryer IMO, maybe use a slap delay instead of reverb to give it some space.

- drums sound sweet, nice definition and stereo spread on the overheads. Maybe a touch more definition on the kick and a bit less low-mid muddy stuff?

Very small tweaks to what is essentially a great mix, just my thoughts, hope they're of use. Cheers

Thanks, Matt, I'll keep your suggestions in mind when I'll revisit the mix next weekend. Smile

I did want the bass to be very prominent in the instrumental sections, and also during the first couple of notes of the guitar solo to give the song a little more long-term dynamics, but I may have overdone it. I usually need a couple of days to get an objective perspective.

... and I tend to mix very fast. When a mix takes longer than an hour, I begin to lose interest - so I always have to refine it on another day, when the motivation is back. Smile

Damn, I could not wait. Wink

I added an updated mix to the first post with some more details worked out.

Yeah that is nice Smile Really like the balance you've got there.

Thanks, Matt!

Did you mix this song, too?

Just downloading it at the moment. Really don't have the time to do a mix at the moment (which is not quite the same as saying I definitely won't do it... ahem) but will hopefully upload something in 2-3 weeks tops. Will appreciate your feedback when done Smile

Sure. Smile Give me a shout then, or I might miss it.

Nice balance, nice sound. I like it.
One small thing bothers me a bit. It sounds as if the modern studio drums is added to old retro recording. Especially in the guitar solo guitar has nice smokey live stage sound, but drums feel more like a studio sound
