Here is my version !
A Difficult one for me any advice to improve would be great Big Grin
Version 2 has more ambience in the intro some HF distortion needs some attention !
I think it sounds very well, Don. Maybe only in the intro, I would add more reverb to the guitars to give the impression of playing in a bigger space.

Thanks for having a listen Juanjose .
I added some more ambience to the intro maybe too much Big Grin.
I know it's all personal taste, but I remember that this intro always made me think of a big canyon and the sound of the guitar coming from the distance... so you can easily figure out that I like it better now Wink
I haven't made an attempt at this song myself yet, and to be honest, your mix is the only one I listened to so far. Seems like a fun song to do!

The one thing that I keep thinking hearing your mix is that it's so dry. I read you added some more ambiance but I really think it could do with a whole lot more, to keep with the Pink Floyd kind of vibe the tune has in it. I do like the balance overall.
It's kinda like Juanjose says, needs the canyon like reverbs.

Thanks I will have another play around with this mix Big Grin
Hey, nice work on this mix! Yeah, I like the ambience in the intro in your second version, works nicely. Your mix really helped with the direction of my mix. You've captured a nice full sound, plenty of full low end without it being out of balance. And good balance of guitars & vocals. Keyboards are there, tucked in behind the guitars, but I don't mind that (and I'm a keyboard player!) - but this is a guitar-focussed song. The little bits of lead guitar (ElecGtr3) towards the end were a little low in volume, especially as it's almost like a little guitar solo between choruses. But nice work Smile

I Agree ,
When i have another play around with mix with more practice i think i will bring up the organ a touch and more and spend more time with automation especially on the guitars
Thank for having a listen and great feedback Big Grin.
V2. ummmm, that's different.

my major problem is the lack of material in the side channels once the intro had done it's thing. i found the subjective illusion of the sound stage during the intro somewhat perplexing....i think i was feeling some ambiguity in the panorama between the panning and the slapback delays coupled with the reverb approach; didn't make sense to me really but then i've had a full day!

but the mix goes pretty much mono thereafter - beyond the vocals and drums, that is. i'm wondering if you left a fader pulled down or a buss muted during the print; the general lost guitar, especially at 2:40 (save for it's stereo verb presence which is still running), might be a clue? this guy Bill, is all about his guitar parts....

sad the drums are mixed from the drummer's perspective . my pet hate, by the way because i'm in the audience and it looks silly on TV! Big Grin

interesting to see what direction you bring this mix....looking forward to the listen if you tweak it.
