Hello all im new to the forums, been browsing and using the multi tracks for a bit now so i decided to join. Anyways heres my mix. May go back and do some adjustments to some of the compression later but its okay for now.
I keep hearing voices... from far and wide... but at least they're very clear!

*ahem*

HI!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on getting your first mix posted!

Brief comments:

On the first verse, I think a little less on that acoustic guitar, a little more on the violin, and a little more on the kick drum overall.

When the extra vocals come in at the bridge, be careful of the added level. You probably want to pull everything back a bit there.

At 1:50, bring out that guitar a bit more. You probably want to compress the accoustic guitar a bit more (fast attack, fast release, just to even out the strum). Vocals sound like they could use some compression as well but have to be a little more careful with the settings there. That might help them sit better in the mix overall. I am also assuming you don't have access to Melodyne or anything similar to give the vocalist a little assistance? If not, that's fine. We work with what we have. Wink

I also hear that it sounds like there wasn't much EQ applied to the 4080 mics. Those generally need to have some of the lower end cut back to help brighten them up and maybe also a slight (~2dB) shelf at about 4k.

So you have a good foundation but some adjustments will probably improve it markedly.

Good start, now let's see how the second pass goes!

Thanks for your input. The vocals at the bridge were a whoops on rendering. needed to have a doubled track muted i didnt want to use. Most of youre suggestions (tonality wise) were thing i had actually already done or similar. (the acoustic in particular had about 4-5 db of compression on it. any more than that and it get too noticeable to my ears with any settings.) Ill upload a new mix in a bit with some stronger kick and other level adjustments in a bit. and no i do not have melodyne, generally on a budget.
It may have been the level on those guitars then that was getting me...
