Hello all,

I'm a one-man band, producer, and mix engineer from the D.C.-area. I'm trying to get more mixing reps in before my next project and I thought Mike Senior's multitracks would be a great way to do that.

I remixed Ill Fate and mastered with BandLab's Universal setting. DAW is Reaper and I monitored with my Sennheiser HD650 headphones and JBL 305P MkII speakers. Main plugins used were stock Reaper plugins (ReaGate, ReaEQ, ReaLimit, ReaComp, ReaXComp for bass guitar, ReaVerb for vocals and drums, ReaDelay for vocals, JS 1175 compressor, JS Bad Buss Mojo Waveshaper for kick, JS M/S encoder/decoder) as well as Gullfoss for Mid/Side 2bus processing, SGA1566 for saturation on drums and vocals, Softube Saturation Knob on toms, and Softube Tape on all tracks. GodCity Salem Impulses are on the drum bus for that beloved Kurt Ballou character.

I used some of the original guitar tracks but used the DI tracks fed into the Juicy Chug preset on the Neural DSP Nolly Archetype for the main guitar tone. The original tones were too snarly, nasal, low gain, and mid-focused on their own. I found it difficult to get a good snare as there was so much ringing in the 300-1000hz range, so I would've augmented with samples if I had a trigger plugin. The tom recordings were poor sounding as well to me, they are lacking in punch and presence.

I think the bass low-end is too muddy despite my best efforts and the overheads are a little overpowering, but I like how this turned out. I'm looking for feedback and suggestions.

Thanks!
