Every mix I've heard of this so far, including my own, has had me picturing computers in one way or another. On this one, with the wide open airy reverb you used on the "beep" synth track, I had a picture of a huge server room, with banks upon banks of computers covered in blinking lights connected together with a spaghetti factory of colorful cables, the camera weaving in and out among this mass of technology...

For the most part, I really love the sound you have going here, not dissimilar from my own approach. Only two quibbles:

1. I felt your kick drum was a little on the thin side; did you roll off its low frequencies with EQ or a hipass? If so I wouldn't; it has a wonderful "thump" just the way it is. Smile
2. The drums didn't sound like they had any reverb at all. When combined with the pronounced reverb you applied on many of the other tracks the dry drums sound "disconnected" from the rest of the mix. Maybe you might try applying a subtle reverb to the drums as well? Something that implies a live environment.

Other than that, loved it! Smile
Nice mix. I like the reverbs you used to open up the soundstage. Very nice !

Hi Pedalin Prince,
Thanks for the comment! I like the "spaghetti factory" (I'm italian).
I cannot open the project now. I remember I doubled the kk track and compress it very hard. Most likely there is a LPF in the eq on the master buss, but I dont think the kick is thin. In my monitor systems and check systems it sounds full and punchy to me. But maybe it can be a matter of taste! There is less ambient in the drums but this helps the drums to stay in front and to stand out from the rest of the song in my opinion.
Anyway thanks for your suggestions!

Ciao,

Hi sano!
Thanks for your comment.
I am happy that you like it!

Right-o. OOOO, that KICK! Loving that. Nice and powerful. Though the bass could be upped a little bit. Very interesting difference between the synth sounds loaded with reverb and the drums basically being dry. At the end too, just brining up the energy. Exactly as intended.

Hi APZX!
I am very glad that you like the mix.
I love this song and the happiness of the musicians is the greatest satisfaction for me!
If you want I can correct the volume of the bass and send to you the mix in WAV format.
Thank you for sharing these tracks!

Edit:
I now saw your thread and I have listened to your mix.
I now understand the intentions you had on the bass.
Talking with the musicians before the mix is crucial! Wink
Kappe,
LOL

Yeah that is why I'm not even mad. I just had such a different intention for it that it is very interesting to hear the different interpretations that the multitracks provide. But it is not the level of your bass that is the problem. It is just the "tone" hehe.
