Hi,
My mix.
Cheers.
The entire mix seems dark compared to the vocals making it sound very separate (in a bad way sorry) because its very difficult to hear the articulation of the instruments. its a good mix the vocals is just too bright in context, if you want an in your face sounding vocal you could make your mix brighter but more mono with a bright wide vocal (im probably confusing you) this will give a bit more depth and clarity while retaining the loud vocals.

Hope i was clear about everything its very difficult explaining cause its more of a feeling than a technical thing, dont get it twisted this is a good mix just needs a bit more "Humanising" idk if that makes sense.

Cheers! Keep up the good work.

EDIT: I know this session is huge but thats pop music and sometimes it can be overwhelming, all you can do is comp stuff until you blue in the face.
Hi!

Appreciate the comments. Is the tone really that far off the released mix?

Not too sure why I'd find your explaination confusing, or be overwhelmed with the number of tracks though!

Cheers!
Its not the tone really , maybe it is the tone compared to the mix idk its very hard to explain. It justs give me the feeling of high shelving the entire mix except the vocals.
(Apologies for not replying sooner)

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've been listening back with your comments in mind, it's just that it's not sounding that far off though to me? Saying that I've still got this mix archived somewhere, so I'll load it up and have a play around with it some time and give that a try. It might be quite useful to set up a Dave Pensado style 'All Music' and 'All Vocals' Bus. I might be convinced yet!

Cheers!
Hey mikej

In regards to what latanielvss. has said: I dont think that you are far off at all, but a little (like 3db or less) drop in vocal level
and maybe a little less high end on the vox could help the mix to sound more cohesive.

But all in all a great mix in my opinion. Has its own unique vibe.

Your Bus Idea is a good one I think Smile

Cheers,
Lukas Angel
Thanks for the 2nd opinion.. I shall go and try a few things with it!

Cheers!
Vox sound great to me i like the separation myself .Really good mix this is.If anything i would saturate the vox a bit more just to smooth a bit more or ds more
Thanks for checking it out and for the comments.

Yeah, saturation might help a bit to thicken up the vocals and smooth it out and get it all to gel a bit more. I think all the tracks are quite vibey in that way anyway as I think all ther tracks originate from hardware as opposed from being processed totally in the box. I'll have to dig out the session again this week and see what I can come up with.

It doesn't sound far off because it isn't lol. Sounds great to me... And also the vocals in this particular track are very original and different in a good way, so if I where to take the time to mix this track I would do the same thing and make sure to emphasize the vocals as you have done. Instrumentals are all present and upfront as well. As a whole everything sounds very balanced from volume to EQ, and great use of stereo field. Awesome job on this one!
