I approach this mix as thou it is some underground punk club in the 80's.
For drums I tried to work with just OH and a bit of close kick. limit the hell out of it, and blend in some dry.
For bass, I had IRON on Germanium 1mf to get that hairy distortion.
most of the distortion no the tracks comes from Acme XLA-3.
Some slap on the Vocal, the rest are bone dry.
On master, distortion from BB HG-2 & True Iron.
