Sweet live track. Band was hot, great song, and very fun to mix. Here's my take. Thanks!
Hi

Overall your mix works very well for me.

However, I do have couple of minor issues.
Tom1 gate seems very slow, which creates a messy feeling in the overall expression. Also, in my mind, both toms are very - read: "too" Wink - forward in your mix.
I find your BGVs are a pinch too weak On the other hand, maybe, not sure about this though, I find your lead vocal a bit too loud?

Keep up the excellent work
Hey Krabbe,
Thanks for the feedback.  I went back to that mix and I agree.  The toms are a bit too much at points, they probably could've used some compression or just been turned down.  I didn't gate them but I did clean the tom tracks so maybe that's what your were noticing.  I had the BGV's way down, can't remember why, I turned them up a bit and it sounded just fine.  Anyways, it was helpful getting a 2nd pair of ears on it.  Thanks again.
Dave
While all of the sounds are good and the blends general fine, it just seems to lack the energy of the performance.

Yeah, that’s something I’m trying to work on in general with my mixes.  I’m getting the balance and blend and what not pretty solid but it’s a little tougher to make it sound exciting.  I think I may need to go in and do more detailed automation to bring certain things out and create some movement.  After I get done doing the basic balance of a mix I tend to not spend as much time on those details.  Thanks for the critique and if you have any specific suggestions feel free to let me know.
