This multi has been on my "to do" list for awhile now. Do I know anything about Classical Opera? Not really, but loved working with this performance just the same.

I can't believe there are people lucky enough to get up in the morning and get paid to work with music like this. I'm so envious.

I've only spent about 45mins on this mix, which concerns me a little. Have I missed something? I hope not! It just seemed to sound right, so I pulled up stumps.Smile

Thanks for listening. Comments welcome.
Very nice Dave

Piano tone is spot on to me and the vocal level and tone is excellent.
I had the pleasure of recording some live performances of The Barber of Seville for a local Opera company, I found the biggest challenges when mixing it down to be when the soprano hit the big notes, vocal tone and level, you handled all really well.
Job well done
Cheers!

Thanks for your thoughts K, this is helpful. I'm still wondering if I have the vocal performance a little too intimate sounding for this type of recording. Not sure? Either way I pleased the mix is to your likings.

I could only imaging how rewarding recording any acoustic performance like this would be.

Cheers

As always, everything is smooth, without noticeable errors. Of the laid out mixes, this one is undoubtedly the best. But there is one nuance exclusively musical character. (IMHO) Maybe it was not worth it to compress the sound? After all, this is classical music... Although, not everyone will like the deafening fortissimo in the beginning! ))))) In my mix, I let go of the sound, ignoring the volume swings ( http://discussion.cambridge-mt.com/showt...?tid=30885 ).
P.S. I've already received my share of criticism for my mix: it's not nice to jump up in my chair in surprise after the first chord )))))

Thanks you Alexander. It's a while ago when I mixed this, so I'm not sure how the compression was applied. What ever I did it would have been light. My limited experience of this style of music is mostly with older records, which I would have tried to replicate.
A really great track to work with though, I think you would agree.
Thanks for your comments.
