Full Version: 'Shut Up and Play' hawk mix

I am pretty new to mixing, but had fun with this one. Let me know what you think/any advice you have.

I like your mix ,One thing I'm noticing is the drums sound wide in the side channels and the guitars are in the center which is ok but could be panned a touch more .
Listening in mono the Guitars sound a touch bright about 1 or 2 db around the 2 -4.5k area.
Give this free plugin a try which i find usefull to listen to and learn whats going on in the side and center channels of other mixes and commercial mixes and compare to mine .

I agree with Don here, it feels like the guitar is away from the overall mix and not as a cohesive instrument. I dont think there is something wrong with the sidechannels in the drums though, it feels like it actually could benefit from some lowmids in the overheads, i only think that the sidechannels has less bass and therefore it seems as if they are higher in volume, since there almost only is cymbals in the sides and no snare.
