'VCA Smashed!" ^_^
Hi kapu,
solid mix as usual sounds great ,
would love to know your secret how you get that big fat sound ?

Cheers Big Grin

solid mix ...

Thanks! It's quite simple: I'm pure awesome and excellence incarnated, and I just nail every single mix every single time. ^_^ But seriously speaking, for me the latest great leap towards better sound was to start using compression. I mean really applying the compression, and not just loading some plugin on the track and watching the needle barely move, like in all those worthless lessons and tutorials. Relatively slow attack times and fast releases. And adding serial compression, and then parallel compression. And then driving the tracks or groups against some tape saturation or clipping distortion. Or I don't know, just try compression a lot more thank you think is enough, and then saturate or clip as much as possible without making it audibly distorted.

EDIT: BTW 'VCA Smashed' is SSL bus compressor style preset in Logic Pro's compressor. Smile
It sounds pretty good. My only really issue is the level of the kick. It's pretty out front. It's a good tone just on the loud side. It has enough click and punch that it could be brought back a bit and still be heard well.

That's all I really noticed. It's very smooth sounding.

Good job.

Thanks ,will have a play around with some more compression.
Gotta love the splat on the drums. I haven't mixed this track yet, hoping to get around to it soon. Tasty mix, kapu. My ears would prefer a little less 2-3khz but only slightly.
Hey Kapu !

I would say... too smashed :p It's pumping everywhere and too much distorted ! The low end lacks control as well. I can clearly hear the attack/click of the kick but its resonance is too much diffuse and buried alongside the bass.

I really like the guitars and vocals treatment Smile

A large tank for feedback! Did some cleaning and updated file, although I kept it very smashed. ^_^
