This is a tough song to mix. There are a lot of different sections of the song that should be treated differently, and SO MANY TRACKS! My CPU was taking a beating, so I had to bounce several, and even then I ended up bouncing *all* instruments and mixing the vox separately. Too many delays and reverbs.

I'm still bothered by the kick. In some sections I like it, but in others, it doesn't work so well. It was either find a compromise that sounded "OK" throughout, or comp out four different kick tracks. I guess I got lazy Dodgy

Here it is though ... mastered version, with the compressor pushed 1db here, 2 db there to give the song some extra crescendo, and two minor EQ tweaks.

Hey man!

Overall I think you got the balance.. In my opinion the kick is muddy.. I have not done this song.. But by the sound of the drums I would have replaced them with samples so that the drums Pierce more slin the mix.

That many tracks can be frustrating though. My cpu took a beating when I mixed Howling by Amber Skye.

The band itself has a trashy texture to their songs but I still think this could be a Lil more polished.
Wow, you got the vocals really nice and present, crispy. Love them!
You could work on your compressor and eq'ing of snare and kick, both sound a bit thin and don't really smack. Vocals may be a little loud in comparison with the other tracks, but apart from that it's a well-balanced mix.

I have to apologize for all the tracks. Really wanted to give to you guys all tracks I could provide, that's why there's a ride track though there isn't even a single hit on the ride cymbal.
Don't worry about cutting away anything which isn't needed. I didn't use some drum tracks in my mix.

Hey man, nice use of effects. Love the delay and distortion on some of the tracks, you really gave the song some atmosphere.

Cheers!

I think I might not have made the best choices in selecting what tracks to use for kick and snare last time around. I changed it up here, and re-worked both. I definitely got closer to what I wanted this time. Phasing was a problem before, but not anymore.

I'm also learning a bit about automating the volume of large numbers of tracks in order to follow the flow of the song better (thank you Reaper folders!). Again here, the mastering also has some automation, increasing the input level to it by 1 db, then 2 db, then back down, then back up, and so on as the song progresses to its final crescendo.

I'm curious what other people are using for reference tracks for this song. The sparse section starting at 2:04 reminds me of a Bad Religion song, though I can't for the life of me remember which one Sad
