Mixed at dBu Recording Studio, Ottawa, Canada.
Great source tracks.
Force myself to use the drums as recorded, instead of following my usual instinct to do drum replacement.
As always, any comments welcome.
Mike.
Hiya Mike

A nice clean mix, my good fellow!
Yes, this was a fun track to work on. Well done, Bill Chudziak Big Grin

Now, onto the critique:
I'm getting a lot of really low end energy from the kick and maybe the bass. It sounds as though there has been a large boost down below 80Hz, mostly on the kick, which may sound awesome coming through a sub woofer and making your chest pound (oooh yeah!! Wink ) but is kind of sounding a bit unbalanced against the rest of the instrumentation.

I was going to add that the vocals could come up a little bit, but I'm now thinking that if the low end is contained a little, then the whole mix might be able to come up a bit more without driving any master fader compressor-limiters you have across the mix too hard.
There is a bucket-load of energy in the low end of the frequency spectrum, and reining it in is half the battle won!

But I think you have a very good 'first cut' of this track, and I'm envious that you have a recording studio to work in!! Smile

Hi Dags,

Thanks for the input! Always appreciated.

I always seem to struggle with the low end, never sure if I've got too much or too little. I'll continue to work on that part of my technique. Your comments will go a long way to helping me find that sweet spot. Smile

Thanks again,
Mike.
