Second mix ever (on this site, and of the day) My ears are shot. Helpfull criticism would be fantastic!
Used mostly headphones for this one. Sony MDR-7506 but also checked with Yamaha HS5's
Not mastered just put a limiter on, so keep that in mind.

Not to sure how it went so i hope I can get some input!
Ill do my best to help you all out with input as well!
New Mix Changed somethings I hope for the better. Big Grin
Any help from anyone? please?
Hello there.

You got a really Good Mix
Pros: I like how you EQd the voice on main Vocals. That snare is awesome, it sounds Fat and it goes perfect for the type of distortion. And the reverb you put on it makes it seat perfect on the mix. Cool distortion fx on back vocals too i found it to be interesting in there somewhere.

ConsSadjust opinions ok?) I feel there is too much going on with the low end of everything overall. Bass is not as present throughout the verses it's like buried back there somewhere. I know there is a bass cause i hear mostly low frequencies. Found the bass to be struggling with distort guitars and low end on kick, I would thin out(lower) some low end for drums(kick nd toms, snare is perfect) and bass so they aren't fighting for a spot around the 60-120 hz. (sounds too fat down there).
when all the back vocals and main vocals sing there is an excess of Ess.. you might want to go easy on highs for every vocal. sometimes is good to lower highs on back vocals and leave mids.. that way you don't have a sum of +3db betwen 3khz and 6 khz. There is a resonance boom sound ( i think its from the bass) at the end of the track, if that boom sound is through out the whole song then this would be the main problem for everything i said.

But honestly this did not sound bad.. shame on the person who rated 2 stars.

P.s.( i have not mixed this and i don't know the quality of the recording so take everything I said as an Opinion, I know sometimes is very difficult to mix something that is not well recorded.)
Thank you so much for your opinion Shul! I hugely appreciate it! I totally agree with your cons that makes perfect sense to me. I'll have to go back and do some more work! Getting better is hard without any outside constructive criticism so again I really appreciate it thank you!

You are very welcome. I totally get that as I'm also getting better with the help of everyone here.
I really love your mix, gave it a clean 5/5 stars. It's a bit bright but that's absolutely okay.
Really good work on EQing and compressing. Maybe the bass guitar could be a bit more present and watch the click of your kick, but that's all I have to say to destroy your mix, nothing else. Keep it up Smile

..I'd love to know how much time you needed to get it to sound like this. I've spent countless hours on each song of the Forkupines' EP but you seem to be able to handle stuff like that with intuition I still need.
Your snare is a-w-e-s-o-m-e.

Cheers!

Hey, wurstdrummer!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I've been just trying to push forward and do better every chance i get you really helped me out with your support and advice so again thank you!

To answer your question i think it took me about 5-6 hours for this mix probably two separate mixing blocks or 2-3 hours each.
