Alejo Granados - Rumba Chonta (Ken Alex Mix).mp3
#1
MIX NOTES
  • New genre for me so I tried to build the balance up from lowest frequency tracks and up (Bomba > Bass > Cunono > Marimba > Snare, etc.) then EQ each overlapping region between the current and previous track (Ex: Cut freqs of Cunono that overlapped with Bass; cut freqs of Marimba that overlapped with Cunono, so on and so on)
  • Sidechained bass region of BassMic with BassDI to give BassDI ownership of low end
  • Used UAD Oxide Tape and Magma BB Tubes saturation on almost every track (exception was Waves J37 Tape on Marimba since it was distorting)
  • Lot of EQ resonant notching on tracks
  • Panned Cunono tracks +/-25, Shaker+HiHats +/- 25, ElecGtr +/-50 and finally Sax tracks +/-100 for the widest effect at the end of the track
  • Created group buses for DRUMS, BASS, ELECGTR, and SAX; used some comp/limiting and reverb on each group bus
  • Waves Scheps 73 EQ on group buses for "analog" clean up/emphasis of 50hz-200hz and some slight boosts or cuts in the midrange
