Andrew Cole: 'Dead Roses' -m
#1
At first I thought that the high quality of the recordings'd made for a not so hard mix but then the mix, at least for me, was hard
Thanks

Interesting mix! The snare verb was a bit too obvious to me and the vocal delay+verb also seems a bit disconnected. Watch out for a few of the esses 'taste of sweetness', 'roses'--a few of them are out of control. And every now and then there is a stridency in the lead vocal in the 2.5-3k range. The female vocal sounds a bit weird--she's less bright than the dude. Maybe her vocal is too compressed, actually his vocal is also a bit overcompressed. The guitars sound nice but the strum is a tad too dark IMO (a matter of taste). Drums are good, even though he flams like crazy between the kick and the snare.
Have fun mixing!
Best,
Rob Cummings (Hot Milk Studio Berlin)
