Naturally - Allen Stone
#1
Had to pick a song to mix and revise for class. This is the session I ended up selecting. Let me know thoughts and ways to improve!

V1: Initial mix - bass was essentially non existent, phasing in guitars
V2: Revised mix - Better bass, compression added, fixed guitar phasing and adjusted lead vocals.

I gave a quick listen to V2.

The vocals might be a bit heavy in the 1khz range. They 'pinch' a bit. Also, they could be a bit bigger and out in front. It's a laid back delivery, so it falls into the mix but the moral of the story is pretty good so it should be a little more in your (my(one's)) face. Overall the mix feels a little 'flat'. Everything's there but at a safe level but I'm missing the passion that should be there.

I'm on earbuds at the moment so I can't judge the low end but I'm suspecting there's probably a bit too much 40-60hz and a slight lack of 150hz. Watch out for any conflict between the organ and the bass guitar.

It could use some 'air' in the high end but that's a mastering thing.
