Szlachetka: 'Heart Of My Home Town' (critiquez plz)
#1
Hey people,

this is my mix, please comment what you think Smile

--V2--
- Re-did the compression on the vocal entirely. Should now be a bit tighter and no longer swalloed by the instruments. Also Dynamic EQ on the vocal at 200Hz helped A LOT in reducing some mud/undefined mess at certain sections
- Also "ReaTuned" the vocals. Hope it is not to obvious...
- Cleaned up the drums (resonance on the kick drum, properly highpassing the room verb, bit of eq on the toms)
- Lowered guitar and organ a bit

Cheers,
LukasAngel

Very good, Lukas. I like your treatment of the guitar which was a tough get. The vocals also sit very nicely in your mix but at times get behind the guitar.

Sounds good. I think the organ sections of the keyboard track might be a bit overpowering. The vocal does occasionally get swallowed up by the rest of the band at times.

Thanks MITC and Roy for the feedback!

I agree that the guitar and organ parts were to loud at times, this is hopefully adressed in the new version.

The tone of the guitar there isnt really much going on:
Low Cut at 100Hz and some ugly low-mids taken out at 300Hz. A bit of at boost 800Hz and quite a big one (8db) at 4k. The eq'd signal is then run into a tape emulation which rounds off the overly-distorted tone into a nicer, slighly compressed sound.

Cheers,

Better. Snare sound great.
Your guitar treatment is very similar to mine (and I would imagine many). I used a dynamic EQ to dip the low mids and I like the idea of the tape emulation.
