Here's my attempt
#1
Okay here's my approach to that mix. Given the quality of the performances it was more about how to not fuck it up than how to mix it right.
I didn't use a lot of tracks (I got rid of half the drums tracks. only kept the OHs, kick, snare and front of kit mics) and went for a pretty live sound on drums and lead vocal. They were actually recorded that way, I just played with it to add more contrast during the track.
As you'll see I went for a quite upfront and dry but wide piano sound. The kick drum is also more felt than heard through the song. Kinda like in a jazz tune. I could have add more "thump" to it but it felt better that way. More kick put me out of the song...

Tell me what you think Smile

Cheers

What I think?

Simple things, most of the time. In this case, that's easy: I think you hit your target. Period. Beautifully, I then think as well. Thank you!
