Hollowstate: 'Gravediggers'
#1
Here Is Version 1 spent a couple of hours so far ,This Mix was inspired By listening to the Red Hot Chilli Peepers Scar Tissue !
I Did replace the kick with a sample .
Version 2 done some eq adjustments comparing the mix to commercial reference tracks , rolled off the kick and bass below 40hz , tamed boxy and room frequencies around 300-400hz and 600-700 hz area on the Guitars and Vocals !
Version 3 used a different reference mix !
Cheers Big Grin

Greetings, Sir!

So interesting, this is so different to my first go.

Your mix has this really nice sort of vintage squashiness to it. Are you using a tape emulator?
A little too much bottom snare for my taste, I prefer a slap in the face from a snare drum haha but it suits your mix.
Maybe the bass is a little dominant? Might just need a bit more taming.

I really like your take on it.

Hi Pasta,
Thanks for having a listen ,yes the snare needs a little more work and the bass more taming maybe needs more compression to smooth it out more ?
Will sort out in Version 2
No Tape Emulator ,used SSl Bus Compressor set to analog ,Api-2500 and cla mixdown on the Master Bus .

hi! sounds kind of unthedonish. in a good way. fat and splatty, and theres 'tissue' between elements. the loop during verses sounds a bit like some electric noise. maybe bring up the first part of guitar solo? but in overall sounds very good. nice mixing. ^_^

Guitar tones are good...could benefit from a little more separation in the mix between instruments ...overall its solid

Yeah, I agree with Saga. It's got a cool tone but it feels a little crowded. It's interesting because I didn't think about the RHCP when I first heard this song but I can hear it a bit now that you mentioned it. At least in the verses.
