Here is my take on this. I kept the mix a bit darker than most modern mixes. I used a bit more verb than most modern mixes also. This kind of had an old time vibe to me. Don't know if I captured that feel or not. I'm still learning how to navigate around in a DAW.

I'd like to reduce the ring knock on the guitar percussion, I'm just not sure if I should used volume automation, or split the tracks right before and after the transient, and use something like clip gain reduction right on the knock.
