Spatial sound (binaural) mixes - please, listen on headphones
#1
Hi everyone,

I'm preparing a series of binaural mixes for didactic purposes and I decided to do a test with this lovely recording.

The idea was to try and position the sound sources on a "physical stage"; the piano on the left (sideways), bass in the center, and drums to the right.

There are 2 versions. It's basically the same mix, but one has a stronger room simulation.

I'd appreciate any feedback you might have. Thanks!

!! Binaural mixes - please, listen on headphones

Very cool! I don't know how you mix something like this. What software do you use?
Thanks for listening!

Hey Phil! Reaper is my DAW of choice and I have a bunch of Ambisonics-related tools here. To many to list, but I really like the IEM suite*, Sparta*, SSA plugins and DearVR.

I basically encode each sound source to Ambisonics (3rd order) then decode the whole thing to binaural (single perspective stereo).

*free stuff
