After the fx (reverb , delay etc) bring one eq and shape it as you do with the instruments.

Ah yes, now I understand. I tried that and also brought the overall gain down slightly as with a wider stereo wave form iut began to peak so less is more I guess.

Can you tell the difference or should I just put the volume up again? thanks again for the input. I must head on over to hear your mix now.
