New member, 1st attempt at "commercial" mix
#1
I am a live sound engineer (volunteer) at my church. Decided to try this cool song as my 1st attempt at creating a commercial studio mix. Any feedback/comments welcome.

Is not far from being a commercial mix but it needs a little extra boost mate.

Hey bh_trade,

nice mix.

Here are some suggestions:

You need to work on your drum sound, if you were going for that upfront, polished pop feeling. Sounds like you used a lot of the drum room sounds which has quite a few "bad" frequencies (around 400 HZ) I think. It's most obvious on the snare, which sounds boxy and muffeld.
Also you placed the kick quite a bit higher (Sounds like 100-200Hz) than what pop kicks would usually sit at (60Hz).
Dont be scared to do drastic moves and boost 10db of 7K on a kick or notch out a frequency with -12db for example.

Same goes for the vocal with sounds muffeld too.

Bass can come up a bit.

Just remember to use spectrum analyzers and references. I really hope your aren't mad because I criticized so much Wink

Cheers,
