Hey folks,

here is my mix! I didn't use automation, nor did I do any arrangement editing or a proper mastering; just mixed what's there.

I feel like the song needs to sound quiet and calm, but it should be emotional and strong at the same time. That means a lot of subtle compression, quiet guitars and smooth but loud transients.

Let's listen, shall we?

Sincerely,
Marv

Man, that sounds good. How did you get it to sound so smooth?

Thanks!

Tough question. I think the main reason might be the guitars, because I not only mixed them fairly quiet into the background but I also applied quite a drastic 6dB/octave high cut at around 8k to make room for the rest. This only works, of course, if the essence of your mix isn't driven by guitars.
The rest is just good ol' "finding the right balance between each instrument and equalize them for a pleasent listening experience", I guess. Tongue

Sincerely,
Marv
