I keep mixing this song again and again and again.
I read somewhere once that redoing mixes on the same song is not time well spent. Not sure where I read that but I don't agree. Each time I mix this song, I get a incrementally improved result. And that, to me, is learning. And besides, I think this is an excellent song, and want to get it sounding great.
This time I replaced the drum hits and the bass guitar. And I went extreme on the guitars to get them to work in the mix with enough power but at the same time not wash out the fantastic vocal performance. Serious EQ moves on those guitars, along with a bit of pseudo-reamping on one of them. Pseudo because I could only work with the already amped track.
